A 55-year-old man and a 9-year-old girl were taken to area hospitals Wednesday evening after the driver of the car they were in lost control of the vehicle and hit the barrier on the Kansas Turnpike just outside Lawrence. The man was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center and was in fair condition. A condition update for the girl was not available.
