Ira Glass, ‘Cats’ join Lied Center lineup

Two big-name acts have been added to the upcoming season at the Lied Center.

Ira Glass, host of “This American Life” on public radio, and the musical “Cats” will make stops in Lawrence. The additions were made recently to the 2009-2010 season, which was announced in the spring.

Glass will discuss journalism and storytelling during his appearance. He’ll explore the process of combining monologues, interviews, narratives and music into one story. He’ll appear at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20. Tickets are $38 for adults and $18 for students and youths.

The traveling “Cats” will come to the Lied Center at 7:30 p.m. April 7. The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, based on poetry by T.S. Eliot, includes such songs as “Memory” and “Mr. Mistoffelees.”

The Lied Center also has added the Kronos Quartet, a string ensemble, which will play at 7:30 p.m. April 13. Tickets are $14 for student and youths and $32 for adults.
