Video directed by Heath Ledger debuts

Los Angeles — Heath Ledger’s latest directorial work has been released.

The music video Ledger directed for “King Rat” by Modest Mouse debuted on MySpace.com Tuesday. The six-minute, animated video is both whimsical and dark, showing whales and dolphins aboard a ship, fishing for humans in the water.

It concludes with a message in white letters on a black screen: “This began with our friend, a great defender of life, and was completed in his spirit.”

Ledger was 28 when he died last year. Modest Mouse announced in March that it would release the video in honor of Ledger’s last piece of work as a director, according to spokeswoman Lisa Markowitz. The actor previously directed a video for one of Ben Harper’s songs.

Conrad, Kardashian ‘Top Model’ guest judges

Los Angeles — Reality TV stars Lauren Conrad and Kim Kardashian are set to appear as guest judges on the new season of “America’s Next Top Model.”

The series, returning Sept. 9 on the CW network, will feature other guest judges from the fashion world, including models Chanel Iman and Josie Maran. They’ll join the regular judging panel of Nigel Barker, J. Alexander and series creator Tyra Banks.

Conrad, of “The Hills,” designs her own clothing line. Kardashian, of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” has worked as a stylist and is a fashion retailer.

This season, the show is staging a search for a “petite” model — the 14 contenders are 5-foot-7 or under.

Spielberg to be awarded Liberty Medal

Philadelphia — Filmmaker Steven Spielberg will be awarded Philadelphia’s 2009 Liberty Medal for his artistic and humanitarian achievements on Oct. 8.

The National Constitution Center made the announcement Tuesday.

Spielberg’s films include “Schindler’s List,” “Saving Private Ryan” and “The Color Purple.” He has also established a foundation to produce video and oral histories of Holocaust survivors. The center says Spielberg will donate the award’s $100,000 cash prize to that organization, Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation.

The medal was established in 1988 to honor those whose actions represent the founding principles of the United States. Previous winners have included Bono, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.

Klum shares shape-up tips for post-pregnancy

Los Angeles — When Heidi Klum famously walked the runway in lingerie for Victoria’s Secret less than two months after giving birth to son Henry, she became the envy of moms everywhere still struggling to lose post-baby pounds.

But the 36-year-old supermodel insists there’s no trick to it.

“I’ve never really had any special girdle machines or anything like that,” she said. “For me, it’s, you know, really healthy foods, exercising, playing with the children, going to the park. Normal things.”

No crazy strict diets, either.

“I’ve never done diets,” she said. “But I also do not sit on the couch with my feet up and eat one potato chip bag after the next and one burger after the other. I think you have to kind of do a little bit of everything.”

It’s easier to drop post-pregnancy weight it you make getting in shape a priority after giving birth, she said.

“I never really put a lot of pressure on myself, but for me personally, I feel like it is always better to get into shape immediately. I feel like if I drag it out too long, I’m not going to do it,” she said. “So for me it works to kind of get back into shape, afterwards, I feel great. I can put my normal clothes back on and it makes me happy, and it’s worked so far.”

She’s expecting a baby girl in the fall with husband Seal. The couple have two sons together and Klum has a daughter from a previous relationship.

Says Wolfe: “His leg was broken, but he is OK.”

Moore stars on CBS’ “Criminal Minds.”

Jackman may play Barnum in musical

Los Angeles — Hugh Jackman is turning into one of Hollywood’s biggest showmen.

Jackman may be following his song-and-dance triumph as host of the Academy Awards with a role as legendary showman P.T. Barnum in the musical tale “The Greatest Showman on Earth.”

The film about Barnum and his three-ring circus is in development at 20th Century Fox. It is being produced by Laurence Mark, who produced last February’s Oscar ceremony featuring Jackman as host.

A studio spokesman says the Barnum script is being written with Anne Hathaway in mind to co-star. Hathaway worked with Jackman on one of the Oscar show’s musical numbers.

Jackman is a Tony winner for the Broadway musical “The Boy From Oz.”
