The organist at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris will give a recital this week in Lawrence.

Olivier Latry will perform at the Bales Organ Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The hall is adjacent to the Lied Center on Kansas University’s West Campus.

He is one of three organists at the cathedral, having earned the position in 1985 at the age of 23. There, he plays the huge, famed Cavaillé organ.

Latry has made annual tours of the United States and in 2006 was the featured soloist for the opening of the new Dobson organ at Verizon Hall in Philadelphia.

His Lawrence recital will include works by De Grigny, Litaize, Escaich, Guillou and Alain. He also will perform one of his own pieces. Tickets are $11 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. They are available at the Lied Center Box Office, 864-2787.

Latry also will conduct free, public master classes from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday
