Oboe professor to perform recital

Kansas University’s fine arts school will present a Faculty Recital Series performance featuring Margaret Marco, associate professor of oboe and division director of woodwinds, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Swarthout Recital Hall in Murphy Hall.

Marco will present a few pieces she performed at the Double Reed Society Conference at Brigham Young University last July in Provo, Utah, including “Piece for Oboe and Improvisatory Percussion,” by Alec Wilder, and “Reflections” for solo oboe d’amore, by John Stevens.

Annie Gnojek, flutist, and Ellen Bottorff, pianist, will join Marco for “Papillons Variations” by Jan Koetsier. The three have performed for the last three years as a professional trio called Allegresse.

To conclude the performance, Paul Stevens, KU assistant professor of horn, and Bottorff will join Marco to perform “Trio in A minor, Opus 188,” by Carl Reinecke.

The performance is free and open to the public.
