Banff Mountain film fest makes seventh stop
The Banff Mountain Film Festival, a collection of the best films involving mountain sports, will be shown at 7 p.m. today and Saturday at Liberty Hall, 644 Mass. The festival will encompass 14 films spread over the two evenings and is a benefit for the Kansas University Rock Climbing Club and the Lawrence Mountain Bike Club. Tickets are $8.50 for each night. A presentation of The Banff Centre (of Banff, Canada), the movies shown range in topics from rock climbing to BASE jumping, skiing, speed-flying and more. Highlights include “24 Solo,” the gut-wrenching story of Chris Eatough on his quest for a seventh world title in the unforgiving discipline of 24-hour solo mountain-bike racing, and “Cross-country With The Snakes,” about a Nordic punk band whose members ski all day and rock all night.
