A defense attorney said in court Wednesday that a plea deal was likely close between prosecutors and his client, who is accused of pointing a shotgun at a 42-year-old woman earlier this month.
District Judge Michael Malone set a plea hearing for Stanley Schneck, 49, on Nov. 26 to give Schneck's attorney, John Frydman, and prosecutors more time to continue negotiations.
"It looks like a plea is truly imminent," Frydman told Malone in court.
Schneck, of Lawrence, faces an aggravated assault charge. Prosecutors allege he pointed a shotgun at the woman, who also lived at the home in the 1900 block of West 31st Street, during an Oct. 1 argument. No shots were fired.
Schneck is free on a $10,000 surety bond.

Nothing this man surprses me. He has been a nuisance for a long time to us and you would think the courts need to look at his history when they decide what to do with him at sentencing.

I am an ex of the accused and he has gotten away with driving drunk with our then 8yr old daughter so it wouldn't suprise me if he got a slap on the hand for this also. He is an alchoholic and someone needs stop him before he kills someone or our daughter because of his addiction. He has an extensive record and a slap on the hands is prob all that this man will get.
