Olathe ? A former nurse at a Johnson County rehabilitation facility is charged with committing a sex act on a brain-damaged patient.

Authorities say 39-year-old Brent Wheeler of Lawrence was ordered held on $1 million bond on a charge of aggravated sodomy.

Police say Wheeler committed the act in December and was caught by another nurse who was checking on the patient at the facility in Gardner.

Wheeler was fired the same day, after the nurse contacted her supervisor and police.

The victim is described as a 40-year-old woman who suffers from a brain injury she received in an automobile accident.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says the case was submitted to Johnson County prosecutors in May.
