One Baldwin City teen released from hospital; other teen in good condition after rollover accident

One of the Baldwin High School students injured in a rollover accident Friday has been released from the hospital, and the other has been upgraded to good condition.

Troy Stanley and Nick Cox, both 16, were taken by helicopter ambulance to Overland Park Regional Medical Center after a one-car accident four miles south of Baldwin City. Stanley was released Monday, and Cox was listed in good condition Wednesday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Cox was driving the car when it left the roadway and rolled over numerous times, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s office. Both teens were ejected from the car.

Sheriff Craig Davis said a witness told officers that Cox’s car was attempting to pass another car and it appeared they were racing. The cars were traveling over the speed limit, but Davis didn’t have an actual speed.
