A fundraising event Friday night will help grant a local boy’s wish to go to Disney World.

Carson Toews, 4, and his family are going to the happiest place on earth, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Lawrence Board of Realtors. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, the board of Realtors will host Wishes and Wines 2008 at Eldridge Extended, 20 W. Eighth St., where benefactors can enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres, while helping send the Toewses to Orlando.

The cost is $25, and reservations can be made by calling 842-1843. Tickets also are available at the door.

Tad Teehee, vice chairman of the board’s community relations committee, said the community’s support will go a long way in helping Carson, who has neuroblastoma, a form of brain cancer.

“He doesn’t get to do things other kids get to do,” Teehee said. “We want people to come out and help support him, and help his wish come true so he can have this memory.”
