Chicago ? President-elect Barack Obama says he thinks bank executives should forgo their bonuses this year as an example of taking responsibility in tough times.

In an interview with Barbara Walters to air today, Obama said executives should make sacrifices because so many other people are struggling.

Obama says that if you’re worth millions of dollars and you are having to lay off workers, the least you can do is say you’re willing to make some sacrifices too.

Obama also says the heads of the three auto companies who came to Washington last week asking for a bailout are a little tone deaf to what’s going on in the country.
