Too bad those folks didn't buy shoes when the business was "in business"

Maybe the shoes were finally priced reasonably.Or perhaps there was a clerk that was actually willing to speak to the customer when he/she entered the store.

Just a hint.... wear confortable shoes that are made for walking.

Oh, gee, where will we get overpriced shoes, now?

Sorry xbusguy, but I'll pass on WW shoes as well.If I'm going to have to wait on myself though, I sure as hell won't pay the prices Arensberg was charging.

Brick and mortar for trying on shoes and zappos.com for buying. Pretty simple!!

Its one thing to say that you were unhappy with the service at arensbergs, its another to say dont ever buy local (as informed is saying). Please dont confuse the bad service as arensbergs as a reason to not buy local. As someone who works downtown, and whose survival depends on the local patronage here in Lawrence, I must say that simpley brushing off of local purchasing is a little disheartening. I dont know what you do for a living "informed" but I am sure we can always say "well, lets just get their service somewhere else" without any regard for who it impacts. I would much rather go somewhere where the person helping me knows my name and asks how my kids are doing, than type in my order on the computer and take the chance its what I want. And, if I have to pay a little more for that service, I am perfectly happy helping out fellow citizen.

Take or give a letter maria- I didn't buy shoes at the local Arensberg store either. I could not afford the Panhandlers/ and..... well OK ...... they (Arensberg's) were too expensive. But, it saddens me that another Lawrence business bites the dust.

Compete or perish, are you listening auto makers? Oh, what's that big govt. bailout so you don't need to compete. Where's arensbergs bailout? They had an over priced product and so-so service but they didn't have that big union machine lining the pockets of congress. There's your problem.

Always a feeding frenzy with a going out of business sale. I am sure this has been a very difficult time for them. I wish them well.
