Rick Taylor's return to his alma mater will be all business, even if the visit surrounds a game.
Taylor, senior executive vice president and chief operating officer for Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Inc., will be visiting Kansas University this weekend as a representative of the Gator Bowl Association, the group that puts on the annual bowl game in Jacksonville, Fla.
Konica Minolta is title sponsor for the game, for which KU remains a candidate to play in come Jan. 1.
Taylor will be in Lawrence beginning Friday to meet with Kansas Athletics Inc. officials. He'll also be attending Saturday's game against the University of Texas.
Taylor earned a bachelor's degree in business administration at KU in 1979.

Texas Tech went to the Gator bowl last year. Some friends of mine and I went to the Gator Bowl to watch Tech, then traveled to Miami to watch KU in the Orange Bowl. If KU goes to the Gator Bowl, I would encourage y'all to make the trip. This bowl was well organized, and we had a great time. Jacksonville was a nice city, and there was plenty to do before and after the game. It was way more firendly and less “corporate and business like” than the Orange Bowl. It would be nice if the Big XII would get a permanent tie-in with this bowl.

A 6-6 ball club in the Gator Bowl? I doubt it.

Yeah, we're going to handle some business to get there, and looking at how we haven't done exactly that I'm not holding my breath. All told though, this season isn't a total loss, first time KU has gone to bowl games two years in a row. We also learned that no matter how good a player you are (Quigley) if Mangino doesn't like you you're never going to see the field.

While I don't quite agree with chapdaddy, Angus really hasn't proven himself the times I have seen him on the field. I liked him at first, but he just doesn't seem to be able to come through this year.

OH, and I forgot - a Bowl game would be great, but keep in mind, that just because we are eligible does not mean an automatic pick. I still think we need to show something in our last games in order to land a decent Bowl game.
