Free State Studios earns Emmy nomination

“Woman’s Intuition,” a short film produced by Free State Studios, Lawrence, is a nominee for an Emmy Award through the 2008 Heartland Regional Emmy Awards, a program created to recognize the finest achievement in television.

The film – a nine-minute thriller about a woman who hears a strange noise when danger is close – is one of four nominees in the Arts/Entertainment Program category. Other nominees are from media operations in Denver.

Free State Studios employees who created “Woman’s Intuition” are Patrick Rea, director; Ryan Jones, sound; and Josh Robison, editing. They also have their own production company, SenoReality Pictures.

The film is among features available On Demand through Sunflower Broadband.

Free State Studios, which has operations in Lawrence and Topeka, is a division of The World Company, which also owns the Journal-World and Sunflower Broadband.

The 22nd annual Heartland Emmys will be presented July 19 during ceremonies in Denver and Oklahoma City. The Heartland chapter serves the TV industry in areas of Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Wyoming.
