Jack Black reveals Jolie-Pitt twins news

Los Angeles – Angelina Jolie is indeed expecting twins, and it was Jack Black who let the news slip with a “Brady Bunch” crack.

Long rumored to have two children by Brad Pitt on the way, Jolie confirmed the news during a side-by-side “Today” show interview with Black, her “Kung Fu Panda” co-star. The two are in Cannes, France, promoting the animated film.

The twins will be the fifth and sixth children for Jolie and Pitt. She didn’t volunteer the information until Black dropped the hint, joking that the couple will “have as many as (the) ‘Brady Bunch’ when you have these.”

“It’s confirmed?” followed “Today” interviewer Natalie Morales.

“Yeah, yeah, we’ve confirmed that already,” Jolie said. “Well, Jack’s just confirmed it actually.”

“Is that true?”, Black said jokingly.

“Yeah, you did,” Jolie replied.

“Sorry,” Black said.

The interview airs today on NBC’s “Today.”

McCartney’s vehicle delivery backfires

London – Sometimes it seems Paul McCartney can’t win for losing.

The former Beatle has long been an outspoken advocate of environmental causes and animal rights. He is a vegetarian who won’t even wear leather shoes. But now he’s being criticized for having a hybrid Japanese car flown to him in Britain rather than having it sent by ship.

It must have seemed like a good idea at the time. The car in question is an $158,000 Lexus LS 600h, a luxury sedan that offers both high performance and a reassuring “green” patina because it uses a hybrid system that relies on an electric motor at low speeds.

Best of all, it was to be a gift from the Lexus car company, which sponsored McCartney’s 2005 tour of the United States.

But environmentalists quickly pointed out that the use of a cargo plane to deliver the car to England completely offset any gains resulting from the car’s use.

“It’s like driving the car 300 times around the world,” says Gary Rumbold, the director of the British branch of co2balance, which helps businesses and individuals gauge their carbon emissions footprint.

Rumbold said it would have been far less damaging to the environment in terms of carbon emitted into the atmosphere to have shipped the car by sea because so much more cargo can be fitted on a ship than in the cargo hold of a jet.

Heston items to be auctioned

New York – Thou shalt find the Ten Commandments up for bid this summer.

A pair of faux granite tablets that Charlton Heston cradled in the 1956 biblical epic “The Ten Commandments” is expected to fetch as much as $60,000, said Marc Kruskol, a publicist for the auction Profiles in History. It is the fourth set of tablets that remains from the film that featured Heston as Moses.

The five-piece costume Heston wore in 1959’s “Ben-Hur” – the film that won him a best actor Oscar – is also among the 1,000-plus pieces of Hollywood memorabilia the auction is selling this summer. The central piece is the dark green kaftan worn by Heston’s Judah Ben-Hur in the scene when he hears Jesus give a sermon.

Heston died April 5 at his Beverly Hills, Calif., home at the age of 84.

The auction is July 31-Aug. 1.

Winehouse won’t face drug charges

London – Amy Winehouse will not face charges over video footage that allegedly shows her taking drugs, her spokesman said Wednesday.

Police questioned the Grammy-winning soul diva for nine hours last week over a January video that appears to show her smoking a pipe usually used for crack cocaine during a party at her north London home. Police began an investigation after photos from the footage were published in The Sun newspaper.

Spokesman Chris Goodman said police had finished their investigation and confirmed no charges would be brought against the 24-year-old singer.

“Amy is pleased to be able to move on and concentrate on music,” he said in a statement.

Lopez to host LA hospital gala

Los Angeles – Jennifer Lopez has children on her mind – and not just her infant twins with husband Marc Anthony.

She is also thinking about the 93,000 sick and seriously injured children treated annually by Childrens Hospital Los Angeles – and how she can help.

Lopez, 39, announced Wednesday that she’ll host and help coordinate the third Noche de Niños benefit gala. This year’s star-studded party, to be held Oct. 11 at the Nokia Center, will feature performances by Lopez, Anthony, Alejandro Sanz and Latin rockers Juanes and Mana.

Lopez, who was Noche de Niños’ first honoree in 2004, credited her twin son and daughter for making her want to be more involved.

“They inspire me to want to be better, to be a better person, to do something for the world, to set an example for them, to make them proud of me and to know that there’s a certain way that you should live,” she said.
