John Tibbetts, a Kansas University professor of theater and film, and Lawrence-based Van Go Mobile Arts, which provides arts opportunities for at-risk teens, have been selected for 2008 Kansas Governor's Arts Awards. The awards will be presented during a ceremony June 26 at Washburn University in Topeka. In addition to Tibbetts, who won for arts education, and Van Go, which won for arts organization, winners were Marilyn Maye, Distinguished Arts Award; the city of Wichita, arts community; the Elaris Duo (Steven and Larisa Elisha), artists; Dick and Beverly Hess, arts patrons; and Jay and Barbara Nelson, arts advocates.
