Kaun chooses sports agency

Kansas University senior basketball center Sasha Kaun has chosen Justin Zanik of New Jersey-based ASM Sports as his professional sports agent.

ASM represents several NBA players, including Kevin Garnett and Chauncey Billups. As reported earlier, Darnell Jackson will be represented by Montgomery Sports Group of San Antonio and Brandon Rush by Priority Sports and Entertainment of Chicago.

Barnstorming at LHS: KU’s seniors will hold a Barnstorming Tour game at 7:30 p.m. on May 14 at Lawrence High. An autograph session will be held from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and go on sale at 11 a.m. today in the LHS cafeteria. The event is a benefit for the Devin McAnderson Medical Fund.

Morgan madness: J’Mison “Bobo” Morgan’s AAU coach told Rivals.com on Monday the 6-foot-11 senior from Dallas South Oak Cliff High will ask for a release from his LSU letter of intent. Morgan’s high school coach told Rivals on Monday night he expected Morgan to remain with LSU. Morgan chose LSU over UCLA, KU and others in the early signing period.

Twins update: Rich Marcucci, vice president of Apex Academies, told Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog he believed incoming KU freshmen Marcus and Markieff Morris “will be qualified” for admission at KU after their SAT scores are returned and their final grades compiled at the New Jersey prep school. He said all should be finalized within five weeks.

Popular coach: If this keeps up, paparazzi soon will be following KU basketball coach Bill Self across the country. Self recently earned mention in the “Sightings” section of “Norm: Vegas Confidential” – a celebrity gossip column in the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“Bill Self, head coach for the NCAA basketball champion Kansas Jayhawks, was congratulated at every turn after arriving on a flight Friday morning from Kansas City,” Norm Clarke wrote in a column that also had tidbits on Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson, Tony Romo, Ashley Olsen, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Mena Suvari, Dennis Miller and Oprah Winfrey.

Self was in Vegas two weekends ago to scout a pair of AAU Tournaments.

On Sunday, there was a Self sighting in the Lexington Herald Leader. Self played golf Thursday with coaches Billy Gillispie (Kentucky), Norm Roberts (St. John’s) and Doc Sadler (Nebraska) at Valhalla course in Louisville, columnist Jerry Tipton wrote.

Self also attended Saturday’s Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
