Rapper Beanie Sigel back in prison

Philadelphia – Rap star Beanie Sigel has returned to prison.

A federal judge in Philadelphia sentenced Sigel to three months in prison Friday after authorities say he gave a false urine sample to probation officials.

Officials also say the rapper tested positive five times this month for Xanax and Percocet.

Sigel, whose real name is Dwight Grant, was already serving a six-month term in a halfway house for having previously violated supervised release.

Sigel told the judge he was an addict and had a relapse when he was sent to the halfway house.

In 2004, U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick sentenced Sigel to a year in prison and two years of supervised release after Sigel pleaded guilty to weapons and drug charges.

He was acquitted in September 2005 of attempted-murder charges in connection with a shooting.

Author Clancy’s home damaged by fire

Prince Frederick, Md. – A fire damaged the second-floor deck of Tom Clancy’s home on Saturday, the Maryland fire marshal’s office said.

Clancy was home at the time, but was not injured in the noon blaze, fire marshal’s spokesman Joe Zurolo said.

“The smoke alarms are what alerted him to the fact there was a fire,” Zurolo said.

The cause of the fire, which caused about $10,000 in damage to the rear of the three-story stone home, has not been determined, Zurolo said.

About 50 firefighters battled the blaze for about 10 minutes before bringing it under control. No injuries were reported, the spokesman said.

The home is located on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay about 30 miles southeast of Washington.

Clancy is the author of thrillers including “The Hunt for Red October,” “Patriot Games,” and “Clear and Present Danger.”
