KC firefighter dies while battling blaze
Kansas City, Mo. ? A Kansas City firefighter collapsed and died while trying to put out a house fire.
Fire officials say 48-year-old Terrance Crockett did not complain of any problems before collapsing at the scene Monday afternoon. Firefighters were called to the fire at a vacant house around 12:30 p.m.
Crockett was dousing hot spots inside the house just before he collapsed. Other firefighters carried him out of the house and started first-aid efforts.
Crockett was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
He had been with the fire department for 10 years.
