KC firefighter dies while battling blaze

? A Kansas City firefighter collapsed and died while trying to put out a house fire.

Fire officials say 48-year-old Terrance Crockett did not complain of any problems before collapsing at the scene Monday afternoon. Firefighters were called to the fire at a vacant house around 12:30 p.m.

Crockett was dousing hot spots inside the house just before he collapsed. Other firefighters carried him out of the house and started first-aid efforts.

Crockett was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

He had been with the fire department for 10 years.
