A project on home schooling has earned the Lawrence Journal-World an honor from the Education Writers Association.
"Learning Outside the Lines: Home Schooling in Kansas" received a special citation in the EWA's national competition for newspapers under 100,000 circulation.
The series of articles, published in May 2007, examined the growing trend of home schooling.
Writers for the project were Terry Rombeck, now features and special sections editor; Mindie Paget, former arts editor; and Shanxi Upsdell, a Kansas University student and Journal-World copy editor.
The full series, including online extras and 6News video, can be found at Learning Outside the Lines.
