Suspect arrested in home-invasion case

A man suspected of wielding a machete during a home invasion and robbery last month was arrested Friday by Lawrence police.

Scott Allen Dean Blackmon, 22, had his first appearance Monday in Douglas County District Court, where he was charged with five counts of kidnapping, four counts of aggravated robbery and one count of burglary. He is being held in the Douglas County Jail on $250,000 bond. He is to appear in court again on March 12 for the setting of a preliminary hearing.

Police and prosecutors say Blackmon was one of two men who allegedly entered an apartment at 1411 W. Seventh St. early on Feb. 13. Five people were ordered to empty their pockets and forced into a bathroom. Police recovered a machete that was left behind when the suspects fled. The second man, who was armed with a gun, remains at large.
