KU football great Gale Sayers in town for book signing

Gale Sayers, the greatest football player in Kansas University history, returns to campus today to sign his new book, “Sayers: My Life and Times,” from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the KU Bookstores on the second floor in the Kansas Union.

The book was written with Chicago Tribune columnist Fred Mitchell and published by Triumph Books. Sayers will donate 100 percent of royalties from sales of the book to the Gale Sayers Center, a not-for-profit organization. The KU Bookstores also will contribute a portion of proceeds of each sale of the book that day.

Sayers is one of three former Kansas players enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and is joined in Canton by Mike McCormack and John Riggins. At the age of 34, Sayers became the youngest player ever inducted.
