Board of Education forum is next week
A forum for candidates for the local representative to the State Board of Education will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lawrence High School auditorium.
Two Republicans – Robert Meissner and Alan Detrich – are facing off in the Aug. 5 primary for the seat representing District 4, which includes Lawrence.
The winner will face Democrat Carolyn Campbell in the Nov. 4 general election. Bill Wagnon, the incumbent, is not seeking re-election.
The forum, which is free and open to the public, is being organized by the Kansas Families for Education Foundation, and co-sponsored by the MAINstream Education Foundation and Kansas Citizens for Science.
