Romijn, O’Connell expecting twins

New York – It’s twins for Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell, Romijn’s publicist Lewis Kay said Monday.

The couple are expecting the babies this winter, Kay told The Associated Press.

They will be the first children for the pair, who tied the knot in Los Angeles in July 2007.

Romijn, 35, stars in the ABC comedy “Ugly Betty.” She was previously married to John Stamos. They divorced in 2005.

O’Connell, 34, recently starred in the TV shows “Crossing Jordan” and “Carpoolers.” His screen credits include “Stand by Me” and “Jerry Maguire.”

Karaoke to mark Elvis anniversary

Memphis, Tenn. – Karaoke and Elvis: a match made in Graceland and MySpace.

This year, the folks at Elvis Presley’s famed former home have joined with the social networking Web site MySpace for a nationwide “Elvis Week Karaoke Contest.”

“We encourage folks to show us their style of an Elvis classic,” said Kevin Kern, spokesman for Elvis Presley Enterprises, the company that runs tourist attractions at Graceland.

Presley died at Graceland on Aug. 16, 1977, and each summer the famous white-columned house becomes ground zero for a weeklong celebration drawing thousands of fans from around the world. The karaoke contest will get things going this year.

Participants can go MySpace’s karaoke site at http://ksolo.myspace.com/ and record one of three Elvis songs, “Hound Dog,” “If I Can Dream” or “Suspicious Minds.”

The winner performs at Graceland on Aug. 12 for fans gathered on a side lawn to watch Elvis movies and listen to a band playing Presley songs.

Winehouse treated for reaction to meds

London – Amy Winehouse was hospitalized Monday night for a reaction to medication but was expected to be released by morning, representatives for the Grammy-winning singer said.

An ambulance took Winehouse from her north London home to University College Hospital, spokesman Chris Goodman said.

“Doctors have advised that she will be kept under observation overnight and is likely to be released tomorrow,” read a statement released by Goodman and Tracey Miller, the 24-year-old’s U.S.-based publicist.

It was the second time in as many months that Winehouse has been in the hospital. She was admitted to a London clinic in June after collapsing at home, and father Mitch Winehouse said at the time she had developed early stage emphysema from smoking cigarettes and crack cocaine.

Winehouse underwent a series of tests but was discharged in time to perform at the Glastonbury music festival and celebrations for former South African president Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday.

Mario Lopez replaces hosts on ‘Extra’

Los Angeles – Mario Lopez may be doing a happy dance after being picked as the new solo host of “Extra.”

Lopez, 34, who’s served as a correspondent for the syndicated entertainment newsmagazine and co-hosted its weekend edition since January 2007, will take over from co-hosts Mark McGrath and Dayna Devon, the producers of “Extra” announced Monday.

McGrath asked to released from his contract to focus on his band, Sugar Ray, which is recording a new album, Telepictures Productions said. He continued to perform with the band while on “Extra.”

Devon, with the show since 1999, will return to her “Extra” reporting roots with celebrity interviews and “celebrity lifestyle” stories and will serve as a substitute host for Lopez.

Lopez, a one-time finalist on “Dancing with the Stars,” is appearing on Broadway in a revival of the musical “A Chorus Line” and was named People magazine’s “Hottest Bachelor” of 2008. His early credits include the sitcom “Saved by the Bell.”

Lopez is set to take over as anchor on Sept. 15.

Grammer hospitalized after feeling faint

New York – Kelsey Grammer has been hospitalized in New York after feeling faint following a recent heart attack.

Publicist Stan Rosenfield says Grammer checked himself into an undisclosed hospital over the weekend as a precaution and his condition is not life-threatening.

The publicist says it’s possible Grammer’s medication led to his symptoms. At the time, the actor was in town to promote his new film, “Swing Vote.”

The “Live with Regis and Kelly” show says the 53-year-old actor canceled his appearance scheduled for this morning.

Nearly two months ago, the former “Cheers” and “Frasier” star suffered a mild heart attack in Hawaii, where he lives.

Five Emmy hosts are also nominees

Los Angeles – The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be broadcast Sept. 21 on ABC, will be helmed by five hosts, says the Hollywood Reporter.

What’s more, the five co-hosts are in fact none other than the five nominees in the brand new category Best Reality Host.

The five nominee-hosts are: Ryan Seacrest (“American Idol”), Jeff Probst (“Survivor”), Tom Bergeron (“Dancing With the Stars”), Howie Mandel (“Deal or No Deal”), and Heidi Klum (“Project Runway”).
