Kidman gives birth to girl named Sunday

Nashville, Tenn. – Nicole Kidman gave birth Monday to a baby girl named Sunday.

In a statement e-mailed to The Associated Press, Paul Freundlich, a publicist for her husband, Keith Urban, said: “Nicole and Keith Urban are delighted to announce that Nicole Kidman gave birth to a baby girl on Monday morning in the United States. Sunday Rose Kidman Urban weighed 6 pounds, 7 1/2 ounces. Husband Keith was by Nicole’s side and mother and baby are very well.”

Urban posted a message on his Web Site that said: “Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today.”

The baby is the first for Kidman and Urban, who married in June 2006. She has two children, Isabella and Connor, from her marriage to Tom Cruise. Kidman recently told Vanity Fair that she had a miscarriage early on in her relationship with Cruise, leading them to adopt.

A-Rod’s wife: Divorce over ‘extramarital affairs’

Miami – A tumultuous week for Alex Rodriguez, played out in tabloid headlines and carried on the whispers of a connection to Madonna, came to a head Monday when his wife filed for divorce.

The more than 5-year marriage collapsed amid reports of a new friendship between the Yankee slugger and the 49-year-old pop singer, an only-in-New York convergence of sport and entertainment celebrity.

Played out in both the sports pages and gossip magazines, the saga appeared to have taken its toll on Cynthia Rodriguez, who said in divorce papers that her husband “emotionally abandoned his wife and children.”

“The marriage of the parties is irretrievably broken because of the husband’s extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct,” according to her petition for dissolution of marriage, filed in the family division of Miami-Dade County Circuit Court.

Rodriguez’s attorney in Miami, Ira M. Elegant – who is also representing NBA star Shaquille O’Neal in his ongoing divorce – said he had not reviewed the divorce petition but added: “As you know, anyone can pay the filing fee and make allegations.”

Brinkley recalls breakup ‘nightmare’

New York – Christie Brinkley had everything she wanted: a family and an old Hamptons farmhouse brimming with children’s music and art and beloved pets. But Brinkley testified at her divorce trial Monday that her lifelong dream of a “big, happy family” in a quaint setting was cruelly ripped away when her husband had an affair with a teenager.

“Anyone who would run the risk of destroying this wonderful life, anybody that would chase a teenager – I mean, a young girl – where is his judgment?” she said.

The former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and architect Peter Cook are arguing over custody of their two children and other issues in a divorce trial that has produced a series of salacious revelations. Brinkley’s trip to the witness stand Monday was not as explosive as some of last week’s testimony, but it did contain some juicy details.

Brinkley portrayed Cook as inflexible about the children, saying he once refused to change his visitation schedule to let their son, now 13, attend a Billy Joel concert last year at the boy’s private East Hampton school. Joel and Brinkley were married in the 1980s and had a daughter together.

Steve-O says he’s back in ‘looney bin’

Los Angeles – Steve-O is back in rehab.

The “Jackass” daredevil writes in his blog that after 115 days of sobriety, he is “back in the looney bin.” Steve-O, whose real names is Stephen Glover, told fans that he’s still struggling with the effects of the many drugs he’d taken over the years.

Glover didn’t indicate in the July 3 posting on MySpace where he was staying or for how long. His agent said Monday he would not comment on personal matters.

Glover was arrested for drug possession in March at his Hollywood home. He pleaded guilty to cocaine possession last month, part of a deal that called for successful completion of a rehab program.

Bon Jovi helps bring down a house

Detroit – Jon Bon Jovi is giving some people who are living on a prayer something a bit more substantial.

The Grammy winner was in a neighborhood on Detroit’s East Side Monday to announce the building of five new homes as part of a partnership among his Philadelphia Soul Charitable Foundation, Saturn and Habitat for Humanity Detroit.

People gathered and cheered “knock it down” as construction workers busted a hole in the roof of the last remaining house on the block to be razed. Detroit-area Saturn retailers then raised the first wall of a new home.

“I wanted to come back and give something back to you,” Bon Jovi told the crowd.
