BERRYTON A 39-year-old Berryton man has been charged with 68 counts of rape in Riley County.
Ben Hinchsliff made his first court appearance on Monday in Riley County District Court in Manhattan. He was arrested in Berryton, which is southeast of Topeka.
Investigators say the crimes all happened in Riley County, but officials in the Riley County district attorney's office wouldn't say much more. They would not reveal how many victims there are, or how victims were targeted. Officials did say the charges are not connected to a serial rapist who has targeted Kansas State University during the past eight years.
Hinchsliff will be in court again next week.

Careful, careful… be careful to not jump to conclusions.
They don't mention the number of victims (but they are very quick to say it isn't the serial rapist in question) because it may be just one (1) victim, who happens to be his now ex-wife. It might just be that her parents have strong-armed all this through, despite the fact that he put up with her longer than he should have, etc. Wait and see; and I'll wager that is what this turns out to be.

Hmmm. Me thinks Joe knows “facts”.
It's a little hard to imagine 68 separate victims. Even a nut-case would get “bored” with that.
I nearly posted an inappropriate joke about Wilt Chamberlin, but then realized it was, well… inappropriate.

John Geoghan didn't get bored. Sick men are all over the place. Sometimes it takes a while for a child to speak out about the abuse.

I just watched the doc about Ed Gein. I had no idea about this, or the connection to Psycho, Tx Chainsaw or Silence of the Lambs.

It's hard for me to believe that 68 rapes happened in Riley County, and the public was not made aware of any serial rapist. Therefore there must be just one victim. LOL.

OK..well, the story might read like this instead…maybe it seems the daughter is the victim and all this happened when she was between 10 and 14. (Apparently, it then stopped.) Maybe, she does seem to have a history of lying about all sorts of things, and perhaps the former in-laws are vindictive people who might do this sort of thing. I'd ask all to wait for the evidence to be put before the bar before deciding your mind.
I am not friends with this guy, I am tangentially in a circle of friends he is also tangentially related to… so, I do know him. If you knew about the in-laws and what he has put up with… well, please wait for the evidence.
