Kansas City, Mo. ? A man suspected of using a crutch in a New Mexico bank robbery has been nabbed in Kansas City after surveillance video was posted on YouTube and other Internet sites.

The YouTube video, which is listed under the heading “Ninja Crutch Bandit,” shows a man clad in black walk into an Albuquerque, N.M., bank with a crutch under one arm and a gun in his other hand.

He tosses a black bag onto the counter and fires two shots into the air.

The suspect, identified as Khoa Luong, 30, was arrested Tuesday outside his Kansas City home after authorities received numerous calls, said Jeff Lanza, an FBI spokesman.

“It’s very unusual,” Lanza said Wednesday. “The fact it was on the Internet may have led to the tip being called in.”

Luong faces a hearing in U.S. District Court in Kansas City before he can be transferred to Albuquerque to face one count of armed bank robbery, Lanza said. The crime carries a sentence of up to 25 years in prison.

Lanza said no one was injured in the Jan. 15 heist. He declined to discuss why the man was using a crutch.

The case has been assigned to the federal public defender’s office. A woman who answered the phone in the office declined to comment.
