Seniors program seeks Friendly Visitors

Volunteers are needed to provide companionship and support to senior citizens through the Douglas County Senior Services’ Friendly Visitor Program. Volunteers commit to spend one hour a week as a Friendly Visitor volunteer.

Immediate volunteer needs

¢ MOPS, Mothers of Preschoolers, needs volunteers of all ages to work in its Moppets program.

MOPS will meet from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month throughout the school year at Lawrence Free Methodist Church, 3001 Lawrence Ave.

¢ Lawrence Community Shelter is in need of a volunteer evening meal coordinator who can seek out and schedule churches, organizations and individuals interested in preparing and serving meals at the overnight shelter. Volunteers can work at home or at the shelter with a commitment of five hours a week.

¢ Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice is looking for a volunteer coordinator to oversee recruitment, scheduling and retention of volunteers.
