Beaty hired as KU wide receivers coach

KU coach Mark Mangino announced on Friday that David Beaty has been hired as an assistant coach.

Beaty replaces Tim Beck, who took a job at Nebraska. He will coach the wide receivers.

KU plucked Beaty from Rice University, where he coached the Owls’ wide receivers for two seasons. One of his prized pupils was All-American Jarett Dillard.

KU still has an opening for a defensive-line coach, vacated by Bill Young.
