Gisele Bundchen denies that she spurns dollars

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Euros? Dollars? Pounds? Gisele Bundchen insists she’s perfectly happy with them all, again denying reports that the Brazilian supermodel is shunning the weak U.S. dollar in favor of European currency.

Bundchen – known to U.S. sports fans as the girlfriend of quarterback Tom Brady – has been struggling for months to knock down recurring reports that she insists on being paid in euros, which have been rising against the dollar.

“The story of the euro is a lie,” she told the Brazilian newspaper O Globo in comments published Wednesday. “I work with many international companies, I earn salaries in different currencies, that’s all.”

Bundchen, one of the world’s richest models, was the main attraction at the Fashion Rio Week on Tuesday. She exhibited three outfits and drew wild applause in a puffy beige mini-dress.

O Globo said Bundchen set ground rules for the interview: No questions about her boyfriend.

Woman traumatized after Lohan chased car

Los Angeles – A woman who was in the car that Lindsay Lohan chased before being arrested says the incident caused emotional trauma and cost her thousands of dollars in doctors’ bills and a well-paying job.

Tracie Rice was in a car driven by Michele Peck, the mother of Lohan’s assistant who had recently quit, when Lohan trailed them to the Santa Monica Police Department headquarters during a pre-dawn July chase. Peck told police she was being chased by a sport utility vehicle, and police later determined Lohan was the driver.

In August, Rice filed a lawsuit against Lohan for emotional distress. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and payment of medical and other expenses related to emotional distress.

According to papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in late December, Rice spent about $7,000 on medical bills, including a therapist who charges $175 per visit, and lost her $60,000 per year job because of the incident.

Rice said she thought she was being carjacked when an SUV, driven by Lohan, pursued them at high speed, putting her and Peck “at extreme risk of death or injury,” until they arrived at the police station and were met by officers with guns drawn.

Lohan served 84 minutes in jail on Nov. 15 as part of a plea deal on misdemeanor drunken-driving and cocaine possession charges.

Spears family says Dr. Phil crossed the line

New York – Britney Spears’ family says “Dr. Phil” McGraw crossed the line by not keeping his mouth shut after making a house call on the singer last week.

Lou Taylor, a business manager for Spears’ mother, Lynne, and younger sister, Jamie Lynn, appeared on NBC’s “Today” show Wednesday and said McGraw had betrayed the family’s trust by talking to the media about Spears’ mental health after showing up at the 26-year-old pop star’s hospital room on Saturday for a visit.

“The family basically extended an invitation of trust for him to come in as a resource to support them, not to go out and make public statements,” Taylor said. “Any statement publicly that he made, because he was brought in under this cloak of trust, (is) just inappropriate.”

Taylor said McGraw was invited to the hospital by Spears’ family, but “he was not invited to make this part of a public display or part of the media.”

Salma Hayek touting vaccine program

Los Angeles – New mom Salma Hayek also has a new job: spokeswoman for the “One PackOne Vaccine” program, which will provide tetanus shots for needy mothers and their infants in Africa and Asia.

For every pack of Pampers diapers sold in the United States and Canada between April 1 and June 30, the company will donate funding to UNICEF for one maternal or neonatal tetanus vaccine.

“In our own small way, this is an opportunity for moms like me here in North America to help other mothers on a global level,” Hayek, 41, said in a statement Wednesday.

Hayek’s daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, was born in September.

The Pampers-UNICEF partnership has already provided more than 25 million vaccines to moms and babies in developing countries, where tetanus kills 140,000 infants and 30,000 women each year, according to UNICEF.

Miley Cyrus’ dogs named Most Eligible Pets

New York – Hannah Montana’s concert tour and soundtrack aren’t the only hot things on the charts these days.

Miley Cyrus’ pets, Roadie and Loco, have been named top dogs by Animal Fair magazine.

Roadie, a Yorkie, and Loco, a Shih Tzu, clawed their way to the top of the magazine’s Most Eligible Pets list. Readers’ votes were announced Tuesday, and the list appears in the magazine’s winter issue, on newsstands now.

“All the time we hear about the sexiest men alive, the best- and worst-dressed celebrities or the most beautiful people,” editor Wendy Diamond said. “What about the pets?”

Cyrus’ pooches triumphed because “they’re the only ones who can get tickets to the sold-out Hannah Montana tour,” Diamond said.
