Union: Actors likely to shun Golden Globes

Los Angeles – Golden Globe-nominated actors are expected to snub the awards in support of striking Hollywood writers, the actors union said Friday.

After canvassing nominees over the past several weeks, Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg said in a statement, “there appears to be unanimous agreement that these actors will not cross” the picket lines to present or accept an award.

It was unclear how the move might affect the awards set for broadcast on NBC on Jan. 13.

Michael Russell, a spokesman for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which stages the Golden Globes, did not immediately return telephone or e-mail requests for comment about the move by actors.

The Writers Guild of America had refused to grant a waiver to allow its members to work on the Globes, the People’s Choice Awards and the prestigious Academy Awards.

A total of 72 actors are among this year’s Golden Globe nominees. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has repeatedly tried to seek the blessing of the writers guild.

Amy Fisher, husband promote sex tape

New York – Former “Long Island Lolita” Amy Fisher is joining her husband in trying to market a sex tape, saying, “I always wanted to be No. 1 at something, but I didn’t think it would be something like this.”

Fisher said her husband, Louis Bellera, sold the sex tape to Red Light District video of Los Angeles in August when he and Fisher were divorcing. They have since reconciled, and Fisher said she took a six-figure payout rather than fight to have the video pulled from the Internet.

As a teenager, Fisher was sent to prison for seven years for shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco, the wife of her former lover, Joey Buttafuoco. Buttafuoco, twice her age, served time for statutory rape for having sex with a 16-year-old.

Fisher, 33, has written two books and worked as a columnist for the Long Island Press. More recently, she has appeared as a celebrity guest at various clubs.

Stills has successful surgery for cancer

Los Angeles – Stephen Stills, who had surgery for prostate cancer on his 63rd birthday, will remain hospitalized until today, his publicist said Friday.

“Stephen is still in the hospital and will be released tomorrow. … But, he is doing extremely well. Doctors wanted to keep him in for an extra night,” publicist Michael Jensen said.

Stills had initially hoped to be released on Friday.

Stills, of Crosby, Stills & Nash (and sometimes with Neil Young), had the operation Thursday in Los Angeles, his wife, Kristen, said in a statement.

“Stephen’s procedure went remarkably well and he couldn’t be better,” she said.
