A 37-year-old man died after a van and semitrailer collided on U.S. Highway 24-40 Thursday evening.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol official, the incident occurred at 7:29 p.m. near 206th Street, east of Tonganoxie.

Kansas Department of Transportation closed a stretch of the highway and it was expected to be closed until at least midnight Thursday.

The driver of the semitrailer was not injured. There were no passengers, according to Kansas Highway Patrol. No other information was available Thursday night.
