Kansas football moves celebration

Kansas University is moving its public football celebration to 7:30 p.m. on March 8. It will be held in Allen Fieldhouse.

The event originally was scheduled for Feb. 23, but was rescheduled to accomodate five Kansas players – Aqib Talib, Anthony Collins, Derek Fine, James McClinton and Marcus Henry – who will be participating in the NFL Combine that weekend in Indianapolis.

“We originally thought that we could schedule around our players’ commitment at the Combine,” associate athletic director Jim Marchiony said in a statement. “When we realized we couldn’t, we looked for another date to give those players the opportunity to attend the celebration.”

The event, which is free to the public, will celebrate KU’s 2007 football season. The Jayhawks went 12-1 and beat Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 3.
