Wind chill of 15 to 20 below zero expected tonight
The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory for northeast and central Kansas from midnight until noon on Sunday.
Northerly winds of 10 to 15 mph will combine with cold temperatures to produce a wind chill of 15 to 20 below zero.
The weather service expects the temperature to dip to 4 degrees overnight. Low temperatures in the area originate from a high-pressure Arctic air mass building over northeast and central Kansas.
The National Weather Service advises that residents wear layered clothing, gloves and a hat to protect themselves from frostbite.
