Madonna, Ritchie won’t reveal divorce details

London — Madonna and Guy Ritchie have issued a statement saying both are happy with the financial agreement reached in their divorce — but they aren’t telling you or anyone else about the details.

On Monday, Madonna spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg told The Associated Press in an e-mail that Madonna would pay Ritchie a settlement in the range of $76 million to $92 million. But the divorcing couple said Wednesday that Rosenberg’s statement contained inaccurate information about the financial settlement.

Their latest joint statement says settlement details of their divorce will remain private.

The pop star and the British film director were married in a lavish ceremony in Scotland in December 2000. Their divorce is expected to be finalized in January.

Stepmother sues Whitney Houston

Newark, N.J. — Whitney Houston is being sued by her stepmother in a legal battle over the wishes of Houston’s deceased father.

According to court records, Barbara Houston claims the 45-year-old singer improperly kept the proceeds from John Houston’s $1 million insurance policy after he died in 2003.

The lawsuit says the singer was supposed to use $723,000 to pay off the mortgage on her father’s Fort Lee condominium. She holds the mortgage on the condo.

The stepmother, who still lives in the condo, claims that Whitney Houston was also supposed to return the remaining insurance money to her.

Lawyers for Whitney Houston and her stepmother declined to comment on the lawsuit.

Soulja Boy apologizes for his potty mouth

New York — Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em is telling parents he’s sorry for his vulgar words.

The 18-year-old rapper became a sensation and started a dance craze last year with his Grammy-nominated hit “Crank That (Soulja Boy).”

Some of the language and subject matter in that hit was risque, and on some of his YouTube videos, he’s used some naughty words.

So in an interview this week, Soulja Boy apologized to parents and says he is going to try harder to set a positive example for his young fans.

Though Soulja Boy apologizes for his public behavior, he’s not quite ready to become the ideal role model for kids.

Soula Boy just released his new CD, “iSouljaBoyTellem,” this week.

Dreyfuss claims dad, uncle owe $4 million

Los Angeles — Richard Dreyfuss says his father and uncle owe him nearly $4 million on an unpaid loan.

The Oscar-winning actor sued the pair in August over the loan, but amended his lawsuit this week to raise new allegations of financial wrongdoing. Dreyfuss’ complaint states he loaned his father and uncle $870,000 in the early 1980s to help them with a 13-story office building they own in downtown Los Angeles.

In court documents, Gilbert Dreyfuss denied the loan was that old and stated that his nephew didn’t have a large enough stake in the building to warrant repayment. He did not immediately return calls and e-mail messages seeking comment.

Dreyfuss is seeking to look at accounting records for the building, and repayment of the loan and interest.

Police: Suicide attempt hospitalizes McCready

Nashville, Tenn. — Nashville police say country singer Mindy McCready has been hospitalized after an apparent suicide attempt.

A police report says McCready’s brother discovered she had cut her wrists and taken several pills at her home Wednesday. Timothy McCready told police his sister had been “very intoxicated” after a night out.

A hospital spokeswoman says the singer is in stable condition. McCready attorney Lee Ofman said he did not have details about the situation.

In October, McCready was released after about 30 days in jail for violating probation on a 2004 drug charge.

She has struggled with legal and personal problems that included previous suicide attempts.

Scott Ruffalo’s death ruled homicide

Los Angeles — The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday ruled the death of Mark Ruffalo’s younger brother a homicide.

Coroner’s spokesman Craig Harvey says an autopsy determined that someone shot 39-year-old Scott M. Ruffalo in the head. He was found with a gunshot wound early Dec. 1 and died a week later at a hospital after being released from life support.

Beverly Hills police arrested, but later released, a 26-year-old woman suspected of the shooting. They have not publicly named any other suspects.

The woman’s attorney said at the time of her release that Ruffalo shot himself in the head playing Russian roulette.

Police do not have any suspects in custody and had not been notified of the coroner’s determination by Wednesday evening, Sgt. Michael Publicker said. He said the agency had no further statements on the case.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting.

Scott Ruffalo’s family released a statement after his death thanking supporters and saying the funeral would be private.

Mark Ruffalo, 41, has appeared in films such as “You Can Count on Me,” “Zodiac,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and this year’s “Blindness.”
