You Happened to Me

You Happened to Me
By Connie Haas

You happened to me
On a cold winter day
When I was alone
And had nothing to say.

I played a sad song
And you sang along.
We knew that we shouldn’t.
We knew it was wrong.

But as time went by
It grew to seem right.
The long loving days
The warm winter nights.

We are so in love
But in vain it must be.
You are tied to another
Yet say you love me.

How sad it all seems
the game that we play.
Building our dreams
On a love that
Was doomed from the day.

You happened to me.
