Driver dead after truck plunges off bridge

? Maryland police say a driver has died after his tractor-trailer plunged off the eastbound span of the Bay Bridge into shallow water.

Police spokesman Jonathan Green says two other people were hurt in a three-vehicle accident early Sunday on the bridge east of Annapolis.

Green says he doesn’t know yet what caused the crash, which tied up traffic for much of the day. Drivers were advised to avoid the four-mile bridges, a major artery to the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

A company spokesman says the truck is owned by Mountaire Farms, a poultry processing company based in Delaware. He says he doesn’t know the identity of the driver or what the truck was hauling.
