6 Gallery holds reception tonight

A reception is set tonight for 6 Gallery’s latest exhibit, featuring works by Jerry Kunkel and Jennifer Jarnot. Kunkel, an emeritus professor of fine arts at the University of Colorado at Boulder, creates realistic oil paintings drawn from a wide range of subjects that quite often present a seemingly insignificant moment or series of moments, frozen in time. His work is on permanent display at the Denver Museum and also has been shown at the National Collection of Arts in Washington, D.C., San Francisco Museum of Fine Arts, Seattle Art Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Jennifer Jarnot has a bachelor of arts in drawing from the State University of New York at Fredonia and a Master of Fine Arts in painting and drawing from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her work is shown nationally and internationally. Jarnot paints in response to her surroundings, telling a story that includes travels, conversations, material objects, sights and sounds. Wine and cheese will be served at the reception, which runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the gallery, 716 1/2 Mass. A gallery talk with the artists is planned at 4 p.m. Sept. 6.
