Winehouse arrested on suspicion of assault

London – Amy Winehouse was arrested on suspicion of assault Friday following reports that she scuffled with two men during a wild night out, Sky News television reported.

The 24-year-old soul diva, who recently entered rehab after years of erratic behavior and canceled concerts, arrived at a central London police station to answer questions relating to the alleged incident, her representatives said.

Police didn’t directly confirm that Winehouse was in custody, saying only that a 24-year-old woman was being held on suspicion of assault. British authorities don’t usually name suspects until they have been charged.

Winehouse didn’t say anything to assembled photographers and cameramen as she walked into the station late Friday afternoon.

A man was quoted in tabloid newspapers as saying he was hit by Winehouse when he got in her way while she was playing pool at a bar in the Camden neighborhood and then head-butted another who was trying to hail her a cab in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Nick Lachey to host musical reality show

New York – Nick Lachey is going back to high school, musically.

The 34-year-old singer has signed on to host the upcoming ABC reality show “High School Musical: Summer Session,” inspired by the Disney Channel phenomenon costarring Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens, ABC said this week.

The program debuts July 20, and will air Sundays and Mondays for three weeks before settling into a Monday time slot.

The competition will heat up as finalists participate in a summer music program: one winner will “receive the opportunity of a lifetime, becoming a part of ‘High School Musical’ history,” according to ABC.

Just what that entails – quality time with Efron? – hasn’t been announced yet. The champ will be named in mid-September.

Jury to hear accused stalker’s statements

New York – A jury will hear statements a former mental patient accused of stalking Uma Thurman made to police.

State Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro denied a defense motion to exclude the material – including a letter he wrote to the “Kill Bill” actress and e-mails he sent to her father – in which defendant Jack Jordan expresses love for Thurman.

Thurman, who also starred in “Pulp Fiction” and “The Producers,” is expected to testify at Jordan’s trial, which begins Monday in Manhattan.

Jordan was arrested in October 2007 on misdemeanor charges of stalking and aggravated harassment. He was accused of following and trying to contact Thurman for more than two years.
