KU building among ‘8 Wonders’ finalists

The Kansas Sampler Foundation announced the 24 finalists for the Eight Wonders of Kansas Architecture on Friday.

The project is designed to educate the public about the state and to encourage travel.

Among the finalists is Kansas University’s Dyche Hall. Other finalists include: Brown Mansion, Coffeyville; Chapel of the Veterans, Leavenworth; Chase County Courthouse, Cottonwood Falls; Franklin County Courthouse, Ottawa; John Mack Bridge, Wichita; State Capitol, Topeka; Masonic Center, Salina; Muchnic Home, Atchison; Ness County Bank, Ness City; Osborne County Courthouse, Osborne; Seelye Mansion, Abilene; Topeka High School, Topeka; Wichita Carthalite, Wichita; and Windsor Hotel, Garden City.

Public vote will determine the eight winners. People are encouraged to vote online at 8wonders.org or by calling (620) 585-2374. Voting will continue through June 15, and winners will be announced June 30.
