Police in Bonner Springs investigating homicide

? Bonner Springs Police are investigating the death of a 48-year-old resident at Bonner Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as a homicide.

A staff member at the nursing home, 520 E. Morse, found the body of William Webb at 8:37 p.m. Sunday and called police.

An adult male suspect is in custody but not yet charged, said Bonner Springs Police Lt. Rick Schubert, who said the man’s name also couldn’t be released, nor the manner of Webb’s death.

A police report described the case as a first-degree murder, which means it was either premeditated or committed in the course of a felony, said Schubert, who was attending Webb’s autopsy in Topeka. Schubert said he was not at liberty to say which was the case early Monday afternoon.

Wyandotte County Assistant District Attorney Chris Schneider said the DA’s Office was investigating the case and he couldn’t say when or if charges would be filed.
