Man arrested for weapons violation

Police on Thursday arrested a 25-year-old Lawrence man who is suspected of firing a shot into the air during a domestic disturbance April 5 in the 600 block of Schwarz Road.

Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson’s office on Friday charged Eric Reed Jr. with a felony aggravated weapons violation and two misdemeanor counts – one for theft less than $1,000 and the other for disorderly conduct, according to court records.

According to Lawrence police, Reed fired a shot in the air during an argument before he fled on foot and took a $100 cell phone. He could face a maximum 17 months in prison if convicted on the felony charge.
