Symphony Orchestra presents fall event

Kansas University’s music and dance department will present a performance by the KU Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Lied Center. This will be the first concert for David Neely, the new director of orchestral activities at KU.

The evening concert will include “Overture to Candide” by Leonard Bernstein, “Firebird Suite” (1919) by Igor Stravinsky and “Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88,” by AntonÃ-n Dvoïák.

“This concert features three all-time favorites of the orchestral repertoire, known for their appeal to regular concert-going audiences and newcomers alike,” Neely said. “You won’t want to miss the performance of these great works!”

Tickets are $7 for general admission and $5 for senior citizens and students. To order tickets, call the Lied Center Box Office at 864-2787.
