Washington, D.C. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday called for the resignation of the head of the Consumer Product Safety Commission following the millions of recalls of Chinese-made toys.
Nancy Nord, the agency's acting head, has been under fire in Congress for opposing Democrats' legislation to expand her agency's budget and work.
"Any commission chair who does not, in the face of the facts that are so clear, say we don't need any more authority or any more resources to do our job, does not understand the gravity of the situation," said Pelosi, who has been joined in her call for Nord's resignation by other Democrats in the House and Senate. "I call on the president of the United States to ask for the resignation."

Well, you have to admit one thing about Nancy..............She was soooooo instrumental is her trip to the Middle East where she lied about her intentions, conversations, and acheivements! She is an embarrasment to the party and hopefully, she will resign someday soon.

What's next, will she demand he fall on his sword?

No Offender, it's no lie. It's common knowledge and it was reported on by every major news corporation....even the leftist ones that you subscribe to. Try this...........I know you're a little slow but theres this search engine called google............Just type in Nancy Pelosi visits Syria and you can read all afternoon about the mess she caused with her blatent lies! It looks like you're the liar.......well, you and Nancy that is.

Lemme get this right - because a significant number of Chinese manufacturers, with the apparent apathy of the Chinese govt, pump out tons of dangerous products with only an eye to profit, she wants to have a US official's head.
And conveniently, the biggest issue for her is that this civil servant opposed some political action she wanted....
Is this about 'justice' or 'retribution'?

Godot: I think that's more Japan. In China the emperor would mail you a sword, as a subtle suggestion.

They will all have to resign on January 2008 , funny thing my wife asked me who I wanted for pres next and the best I could come up with was choosing three of them and forming the new revolutionary council !

Typical liberal answer, expand government authority and increase the budget.

Defender.............your plate is still full and I'm waiting for something to be served???? I don't follow your right wing news sights and don't take oxycontin so it is you who are a blatant liar, not me! Do you honestly think the fact that you earned a degree separate you from the rest of us who earned a degree? Now THAT is hilarious stuff.
Mmmmm yes, you were served!
kansas778 (anonymous) says…
No, Defender, you got served. Either you live in a cave or you're sticking your head in the sand on this one, I can't imagine that anyone doesn't know about Pelosi's infamous trip. Hey Defender, did you know that Arnold Swarchenegger is the governor of California too? There's a lot going on out there, you should check it out.

All I see is a flimsy excuse for increasing government power. Worrying about the children? Yeah right. Worrying about the poll numbers by creating ficticious crises so they can "nail" President Bush. "Bush doesn't care about children! waaaaa, let's put government nannies in every home to protect the children!"
ralphralph (anonymous) says…
This really isn't about Bush or Pelosi. It's about ... China.
There are reason it is cheaper to build toys there ... slave labor, no safety standards, etc.
Boycott China.

From http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20254745/
"Nancy A. Nord, acting Consumer Product Safety Commission chairman, said no injuries had been reported with any of the products involved in Tuesday's recalls. She said the recalls were intentionally broad to prevent injuries."
Yes comrade, it's a ficticious crisis. And you know what the best way to ensure it won't happen again? Let the free market work its magic. Mattel has a vested interest in maintaining their good name and avoiding lawsuits, and *they* will work hard to ensure the safety of the toys they sell. Much harder than the government would. Much more efficiently than the government ever could. All without adding to the government's power and adding to the budget. And who's a better parent: the one who relies on the government to ensure the safety of their child, or the one who does it themself?

Where does the leadership resignations stop in the chain. Congress has oversight power to all the committees. So it seems that if leadership which oversees something must resign and Pelosi is the "leader" of an oversight body, well Nancy? Lead by example Ms. Pelosi, we're all praying for you.

americorps, you're so far out there with the rest of loons, I'm not sure you can be brought back. We can only hope that medicaid gets you the sedatives you need. In the meantime, the rest of us will keep making sure society functions.
