Irish company presents ‘A Play on Two Chairs’

The Irish theatre company Mangiare, in residence at Kansas University conducting a series of master classes and workshops, will present a performance of “A Play on Two Chairs.” A story about a strange, co-dependent, bewitched couple trying to understand what modern love is all about, the play takes a funny, insightful look at the ins and outs of love and sex. Mangiare represents the new movement of dynamic, physical, ensemble-based theater companies influencing contemporary Irish theatre. KU alumnus and Lawrence native Jaimie Carswell set up Mangiare in Sligo, Ireland, in 2005 with long-time collaborators Darragh McKeon and Deborah Dignam. The company has produced 11 shows in various theatrical styles. The performance of “A Play on Two Chairs” – written by the Irish playwright Michael West – takes place at 7:30 p.m. today at the Inge Theatre in Murphy Hall, 1530 Naismith Drive.
