Lyric Opera seeks young singers
Kansas City, Mo. ? The Lyric Opera of Kansas City is inviting young singers, ages 8-18 years old, with treble voices to receive training in order to perform with the company in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” for several March 2008 performances.
Interested children are required to participate in free classes to prepare them to audition for one of the three professional “Genie” roles in the production.
The classes/auditions will take place from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 2, Nov. 9 and Nov. 16 in the Lyric’s new rehearsal space at 712 E. 18th St. The singers will have numerous opportunities to audition over the course of the three Friday classes. Attendance at all three classes is mandatory for consideration of a role.
The February/March rehearsal period for “The Magic Flute” will be a serious time commitment that will involve weekends and evenings, as well as release from school March 6.
To confirm your child’s attendance at the classes contact Paula Winans, director of education, at pwinans@kcopera.org or (816) 471-4933, ext. 125, by Friday.
