Art Guild announces upcoming program

Artist Louis Copt will give a presentation, “All I Know about the Art World … A Quarter-Century of Experience as a Professional Artist,” at the Lawrence Art Guild’s October meeting.

The event will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Lawrence Public Library auditorium, 707 Vt., preceded by a business meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Copt has been a professional for almost 25 years. In the early ’80s, he quit a comfortable corporate job and moved to New York City to study for a summer at the Art Students League. He began exhibiting in Kansas City and now shows at galleries throughout the Midwest.

Louis has had experience in all media, including oil, pastel, watercolor and acrylic. He also is a trained photographer who will talk about photographing artwork for competitions, Web pages and archive. Louis also will share his experiences working with galleries, sharing studio space with other artists and will speak about art survival skills for the beginning as well as the seasoned artist.
