Joy of Flying
By Myrliss Hershey
One of the joys in life: watching winged ones fly,
Gliding, soaring – a treat for the eye.
Sometimes in imagination, I join them in flight;
Shedding earthly cares for inexplicable heights.
Flying: freedom’s metaphor;
Letting go of fetters – to soar.
Finding the thrill in releasing despair,
Mingling with winged ones high in the air.
