Woman jailed for two days after mistake

? A mistake in court records led to a two-night jail stay for a woman being investigated by police for playing music too loud.

Andrea Conn, of Windsor, was jailed Saturday night after an officer looking into the noise complaint discovered she was wanted for failing to appear in court in 2003. But the warrant should not have been in the county’s system because it was taken care of that year, York County Prothonotary Pamela Lee said Wednesday.

The warrant was issued after Conn missed a court hearing on failure to pay court costs associated with seeking a protection-from-abuse order, Lee said. Conn was jailed briefly four years ago, but was released after someone else paid the court costs for her.

“We don’t understand why (the warrant) wasn’t taken out,” Lee said. “I understand the woman’s angst. It’s awful.”

Conn was released Monday.

“I want someone to say, ‘We did mess up and I’m sorry and we’re going to get a better system,’ to try to prevent this,” Conn told WPMT-TV in York.
