Officer on coffee run shot during holdup

? A patrolman on his morning coffee run walked in on a holdup at a doughnut shop and was shot in the forehead Wednesday, authorities said, the city’s third officer in four days to be wounded by gunfire.

The hooded robber spun from the counter at the Dunkin’ Donuts and fired at veteran officer Charles Cassidy as he walked in the door, according to an employee who was there.

Cassidy, 54, was in “extremely critical” condition late Wednesday, said Alexis Moore, a spokeswoman for Albert Einstein Medical Center, where Mayor John F. Street met with the officer’s family.
